Counselling & Psychotherapy


Life can be difficult and challenging for all of us at times.  Sometimes we feel stuck, not knowing how to move forward.  If you would like help with issues you are facing in your life, I can support you through the process.
 
I work with each client in a way that is best suited to their individual needs. This might consist of short-term counselling in relation to a specific problem or situation, or longer-term psychotherapy for those wishing to deepen their understanding of themselves and their relationship with others.  I see clients privately (no referral required) and through Employee Assistance Programmes (EAP). I also offer one-to-one clinical Supervision.

Sessions


Initial Session
This introductory session is a chance for us to meet each other and explore whether therapy may be helpful for you.
You will be charged for this session but there is no obligation to continue. 

Although sometimes clients are referred directly by their GP, you do not need to be referred to attend counselling / psychotherapy sessions.
I work with individuals aged 18 years and over. 

Court Reports are not provided.

Further Sessions
If we decide to work together, we will usually meet on a weekly basis. 

Length of Sessions
Each session is 50 minutes.

Payment

Cash and personal cheques accepted.

Is counselling or psychotherapy right for me?

There are many reasons why people come to therapy. Sometimes it is to deal with long-standing issues such as anxiety or depression. Other times it is in response to unexpected changes in one's life such as a relationship breakup or work transition.  Many seek the support of psychotherapy as they pursue their own personal exploration and growth.  Working with a counsellor can help provide insight, support, and new strategies for all types of life challenges. Counselling and psychotherapy is right for anyone who is interested in getting the most out of their life by taking responsibility, creating greater self-awareness, and working towards change in their lives.
If you feel your difficulties aren't important enough to warrant counselling or it feels self-indulgent to attend  therapy,  I would particularly encourage you to come to an initial session to discuss your concerns.

Do I really need counselling?  I can usually handle my problems.

Everyone goes through challenging situations in life, and while you may have successfully navigated through other difficulties you've faced, you may benefit from extra support at this time. By engaging in counselling or psychotherapy you are taking responsibility by accepting where you are in life and making a commitment to change the situation.
